Once your surgery is scheduled, you will receive a comprehensive estimate detailing the potential costs involved. We will also provide information regarding Medicare and health insurance rebates to help you understand your out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, you will need to reach out to the hospital and anaesthetist directly for their fees.
Gap Fees:
Gap fees represent the difference between Dr. Coughlan's fee and the rebates from Medicare and your health insurance. We strive to keep these fees reasonable, and all patients will be informed of any applicable gap fees prior to their surgery.
Surgical Assistant:
A surgical assistant is an essential member of Dr. Coughlan's team. All assistants are qualified medical practitioners, and their fees are included in your surgical fee and charged on their behalf.
Anaesthetist:
The anaesthetist’s fees are separate from Dr. Coughlan's fees. You will receive their contact details to inquire about their charges directly.
Payment for surgical procedures is due three days prior to the surgery date. You will receive an Informed Financial Consent form, which should be completed and returned with your payment details three days before the procedure. If you have any questions regarding your account, please reach out to our team at (07) 3186 6623
Hospital fees are billed separately from Dr. Coughlan's fees. In many instances, these costs are covered by your health insurance. We recommend contacting your health insurer before surgery to verify any potential out-of-pocket expenses.
Additional inpatient costs may include medications, blood tests, physiotherapy, braces or splints, and radiology services.
If you do not have private health insurance, Medicare will cover some of the fees for the surgeon, assistant, and anaesthetist, but you will still have a gap payment. Additionally, you will be responsible for the full costs of the hospital stay, theatre fees, prosthetics, and other related expenses.
